Handcrafted Amazonian artistry with a touch of sacred tradition
Discover the Ukupacha Bamboo Kuripe - Jagube Edition, a beautifully handcrafted tool created by the artisans of Tete Pawã. This unique piece features intricate detailing and a small slice of the Caapi vine, also known as Jagube, a name used by various Indigenous communities and spiritual traditions throughout the Brazilian Amazon for Banisteriopsis caapi.
The Jagube accent adds a symbolic element that reflects deep cultural roots and the ancestral knowledge behind Amazonian craftsmanship.
Exceptional Handmade Quality from the Upper Juruá Region
Each Bamboo Kuripe is individually crafted by the skilled artisans of the Tete Pawã workshop, located in the remote Upper Juruá region of Marechal Thaumaturgo.
Tete Pawã is only accessible by a two-day river journey or a small four-seat plane, an isolated place where traditional techniques, cultural heritage, and artisanal mastery converge.
Because every Kuripe is made by hand, slight variations in color, carving, and texture occur naturally. These variations are not imperfections, they are what make each piece authentic, unique, and filled with character.
Traditional Uses of a Kuripe
(General description, non-medical and non-instructional)
In many Amazonian traditions, a Kuripe is valued as a personal ceremonial tool, commonly associated with:
-
directing sacred snuff during private rituals
-
supporting grounding practices and moments of intention
-
connecting with ancestral cultural traditions
-
enhancing spiritual or meditative settings
-
serving as a meaningful, handcrafted artifact within ceremonial contexts
Beyond its functional role, the Kuripe stands as a symbol of respect for Indigenous craftsmanship and the wisdom it represents.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
Keep your Kuripe clean and dry, wiping it gently with a soft cloth after use. Avoid moisture, heat, and direct sunlight, and store it safely to preserve its natural materials and handcrafted details. Occasional treatment with a light natural oil can help maintain its durability and shine.
